Canvas | Moodle | Blackboard

 

World101 can now be integrated into the Canvas, Moodle, and Blackboard learning management systems.

Access our LMS app to embed specific World101 lessons into your assignments and modules.

 


 

 

Canvas

 

Note: The World101 LTI app works best in Chrome.

 

Add the World101 LTI app to Canvas:

  1. Log in to Canvas
  2. Open the course where you wish to use World101
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Select the “Apps” tab.
  5. Locate and select the World101 App.
  6. Click on the App, and then click on the “Add App” button.
  7. On the confirmation window select “Add App”

Add content from World101 to a Canvas module:

  1. Open the module that you want to add World101 content to and click the + button to add an item.
  2. Select “External Tool” from the dropdown.
  3. Locate and select World101 App.
  4. After the App preview loads, explore our catalog of lessons
  5. Click the orange “Add” button at the top of the lesson page you want to add.
  6. Edit the item title and other settings if you would like (do not edit the URL).
  7. Click the blue “add item” button to add the item to your Canvas module.

The World101 learning tool can be found on the Edu App Center.

Moodle

 

Note: The World101 LTI app works best in Chrome.

 

Add the World101 LTI app to Moodle:

  1. Login with a Moodle account.
  2. Go to “Site Administration” (left panel).
  3. Click on “Plugins”.
  4. Click on “Manage Tools” (under “External Tool”).
  5. In “Tool URL …” add World101 configuration url.
  6. Click “Add”.
  7. Click “Save Changes“ (no values needed in “Consumer key” and “Shared secret”).
  8. Result: ”World101” tool should appear under “Tools”.
  9. Before being able to view the lesson catalog, you will need to register your LMS domain
  10. Edit the recently create World101 App (click on the right-top wheel in World101).
  11. Click “Show more...” and check “Content-Item Message“.
  12. Save changes.

Create W101 Content in Moodle:

  1. Login with a Moodle account.
  2. Create/Select a course.
  3. Click “Turn Editing ON”
  4. Click “+ Add an activity or resource“
  5. Select “External Tool”
  6. In “Preconfigured tool”, select “World101”.
  7. Click “Select Content”
  8. Result: World101 Catalog modal should open.
  9. Navigate to a World101 content (ex: Global Era Issues > Globalization > What is Globalization?)
  10. Click on “Copy LTI URL”.
  11. Close World101 Catalog modal.
  12. In “Tool URL”, paste the previously copied URL. URL Sample: https://world101.cfr.org/lti?custom_destination=/global-era-issues/glob…
  13. Save (Save and Display).

 

 


 

 

Blackboard

Add the World101 LTI app to Blackboard:

  1. Login with a Blackboard account.
  2. Click on Courses (left panel)
  3. Create/Select a course.
  4. Under “Course Content”, click “+” to create a new content.
  5. Click “+ Create”
  6. “Teaching tools with LTI connection”.
  7. Fill the following fields:
  8. Title: World101 CATALOG
  9. Configuration URL: https://world101.cfr.org/lti
  10. Key: world101
  11. Security Token: world101
  12. Click “Save”
  13. Before being able to view the lesson catalog, you will need to register your LMS domain
  14. Open new content created.
  15. Results: User can render the World101 Content Catalog.

Create W101 Content in Blackboard:

  1. Login with a Blackboard account.
  2. Click on Courses (left panel)
  3. Create/Select a course.
  4. Under “Course Content”, click on “World101 CATALOG” (see “Create/Load W101 Content Catalog“ section above).
  5. Select a World101 content (ex: Global Era Issues > Globalization > What is Globalization?)
  6. Click on “Copy LTI URL”.
  7. Close World101 Catalog.
  8. Under “Course Content”, click “+” to create a new content.
  9. Click “+ Create”
  10. “Teaching tools with LTI connection”.
  11. Fill the following fields:
  12. Configuration URL: Paste copied World101 URL. URL Sample: world101.cfr.org/lti?custom_destination=/global-era-issues/globalization/what-globalization?launch
  13. Key: world101
  14. Security Token: world101
  15. Click “Save”
  16. Open new content created.
